The week of February 11, 2024, TMCI’s “Consider This” segment is titled, “Ten Lepers.”
In Luke’s gospel, we read of ten lepers who cried, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” Jesus saw them and said, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” As they went they were healed. Then one, turned back, and fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, thanking Him.
Ten were healed but only one came back to thank the Healer. We don’t know what happened to the others. What we do know is Jesus heard their cries for help and He healed them with no strings attached.
Am I willing to serve those who look and think differently from me, whose lives may appear messy, without receiving so much as a “Thank You” in return? That’s what Jesus did, and I believe that’s how he’s calling us to live before a watching world.
