The Women of Advent - Anna

Anna is the third woman cited in Luke’s account of Jesus’s life. She served in the temple as a prophetess and is mentioned alongside Simeon, the prophet. Together, they served as witnesses of Jesus’s coming. God chose to use a man AND a woman!

Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Luke intentionally acknowledges the role of Anna (and other women) in Jesus’s story. He is differentiating Jesus from every other leader before Him. Jesus valued all people regardless of their status in that culture and came to save everyone who placed their faith and trust in Him as Lord and Savior.
