As someone living in the upper Midwest, Summer arrives in full force in July – but so do ads from retailers about the start of school! Most schools in Minnesota don’t start until after Labor Day, so the first-day-of-school reminders feel premature and unwelcome.
For busy parents, getting ahead on the school shopping list can ease their minds. In an article entitled The Power of Preparation by Kaizen Workforce Solutions, I read:
“The quality of your preparation will directly influence the quality of your performance.”
Our Teen Mother Choices (TMC) Program Directors are similarly preparing for the Fall as they construct their 2023-2024 LifeSkills Workshop Calendar. Did you know that each TMC Program hosts 32 LifeSkills Workshops between September and May? They require a host of meal providers, childcare workers, mentors, and knowledgeable speakers to accomplish this feat.
The purpose of the LifeSkills Workshops is to cover relevant topics about the 5 Life Roles of a Teen Mom; teenager, mother, student, employee, and seeker. Teen Mother Choices International (TMCI) created a LifeSkills Workshops Resource Directory to aid the Program Directors with their preparations. Each recommended topic provides resources for their use and conversational ways to point teen moms to Jesus. As Jesus is the reason for this program, we want to use every opportunity available to remind teen moms of who God is, what He accomplished through Jesus on the cross, and how teen moms can experience new life in Christ today and for eternity. This is TMC’s Hope, Purpose, and Future.
Please pray for our Program Directors as they organize their calendars to serve, encourage, and love teen moms in their communities. And ask God to provide all the volunteers and speakers that are needed. We are confident He ” is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20 ESV).
