In the beginning steps of the TMC Program Training Process, we encourage future Program Directors to interview organizations in their communities to learn how they are serving teen moms. Building relationships and creating partnerships is a big part of the TMC Program. Similarly, TMCI established an excellent partnership with Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) that began in 2019 and continues today.

After several larger financial institutions declined to work with us to create materials for teen moms to learn about finances, GLCU said, “Yes!” They made a Five-Step Financial Training Process with videos and accompanying worksheets that address topics like understanding your credit score, the difference between a bank and a credit union, and the importance of an emergency fund. GLCU didn’t stop there! Additionally, they chose to offer a $50 gift to any teen mom who opened a checking or savings account with them.

GLCU is doing its part to help teen moms understand personal finances and build a more secure financial future. We can’t thank them enough for sharing their expertise and knowledge with our TMC Programs and for being faithful partners to TMCI.
