During the Teen Mother Choices International (TMCI) Annual Meeting, our Board of Directors decided to serve as the governing body for some future Teen Mother Choices (TMC) programs. Previously, most of our TMC programs have been governed by people within their communities whom the Program Director has approached to serve on the board. In the future, we will have a mixture of programs managed by TMCI, while others will continue to have community member-led boards.
We believe The Church is the ideal means for serving teen moms. While The Church comprises individual followers of Jesus Christ, it also includes local gatherings of believers who minister in their communities. To promote a closer relationship between the local church and TMCI, we are approaching churches with the opportunity to host a TMC Program.
As a TMC Host Church, TMCI will be the governing body of the program and help financially support the program for several years until it becomes self-sustaining. TMCI will also employ the Program Director and provide ongoing support and supervision for her. The TMC Host Church will provide meeting space for the TMC Program, names of potential Program Directors from within their congregations, and opportunities to recruit volunteers.
TMCI is in the early stages of working with a local congregation to bring the TMC Program to Gurnee, Illinois. During a meeting with a pastor, he stated,
“You have given us a gift!”
He recognized how the partnership between TMCI and his congregation can affect the community for its good and God’s glory.
We pray that more church leaders will see the value of bringing the TMC Program to their communities through a partnership with TMCI and proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ to teen moms in word and deed.
