What do you do if a teen mom in your program asks for an evening of Prayer and Praise? You immediately set the wheels in motion to accommodate the request!
This is exactly what happened to Jessica, the Program Director at TMC – Hope Collective in Lake Zurich, IL. After a regular LifeSkills Workshop night, she received a call from one of the participants in the program asking if they could plan a night of praying and singing to Jesus.
Can you imagine being on the receiving end of that call?
Jessica’s heart was overflowing with excitement and gratitude to God.
Jessica’s first call was to Erin. Erin has faithfully supported and served in TMC from the beginning. She also serves at Hope Collective in their music ministry. Needless to say, she was anxious to help organize the evening! As the word about this Prayer and Praise night spread, people from the church offered their gifts and talents to pitch in, including a piano player and the church’s lead worship leader. God’s people responded!
On the night of the gathering, it seemed as though most of the teen moms weren’t connecting with what was happening. But the youngest mom in the group, who had not shared or opened up since she joined 2 years ago, finally opened up! She shared honestly about struggles in her life and asked Jesus for help. Jessica told me, “If it was just for that one mom, it was worth it!”
But as we know, God was working in the hearts of the other moms in attendance. Several told Jessica afterward how much they appreciated the service and how it affected them.
God, you deserve all the praise for what you did in that teen mom’s life and how the ripple effect spread throughout TMC and Hope Collective! Thank you!
Will you please pray for the TMC Program at Hope Collective? Pray for Jessica, the mentors, the volunteers, and the teen moms.
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:3-6
