Every family in the U.S. has been affected by inflation and the rising costs of groceries, gas, and childcare. The Labor Department recently did a study on the cost of childcare for two-parent households and found they pay between 8% and 19.3% of their median family income. In households headed by a single parent who has never been married, childcare costs can reach 31% of their median income.
Can you imagine that? This includes the teen moms we serve who are trying to complete their education and find employment that covers their living costs.
For over 30 years, Teen Mother Choices programs have strived to help remove the obstacles that keep teen moms from becoming independent. Helping supplement the cost of childcare has proven to be an essential part of this process.
Tuesday, November 28, 2023, is Giving Tuesday. Teen Mother Choices International will request donations to supplement the rising childcare costs for our TMC Programs. One hundred percent (100%) of the donations received on Giving Tuesday will be divided between our programs. After learning from a Program Director of a teen mom whose childcare costs exceed $800 a week, we knew we needed to do something.
