It’s with both heavy hearts and real hope that we share some news with our community: Steve Cochlan has passed away.
This year, Steve was honored as the 2025 recipient of the Greg Krumes Gospel Fire Award—a recognition that fits him like a glove. Steve carried the Gospel like a torch. He didn’t just talk about faith; he showed it. He served. He gave. He believed that the message of Jesus wasn’t meant to be stored safely on a shelf—it was meant to be lived out loud.
And yes… Steve had his own way of saying it.
He’s gone from “kicking tail for Jesus” to resting in Jesus’ arms.
Steve’s legacy isn’t confined to a title, an award, or a highlight reel. It’s in the conversations he started, the people he lifted, the risks he took to do the right thing, and the steady way he kept pointing back to Christ.
He reminded us that faith is not fragile. That joy can be fierce. That serving others isn’t an optional add-on—it’s part of the calling. And he modeled the kind of discipleship that isn’t performative or polished, but real and rooted.
We’re grieving. But we don’t grieve as people without hope.
We believe what Steve believed: that Jesus is alive, that His promises are true, and that to be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord. Steve is not lost—he is safe. Held. Whole. Home.
You finished your race.
And now you’re resting—right where you longed to be all along.
