Every once in a while, God shines a little extra spotlight on someone who has quietly been faithful for a long time. In 2025, that spotlight landed on Steve Cochlan, the recipient of the Greg Krumes Gospel Fire Award—and if you know Steve, you know there couldn’t be a more fitting choice.

This award is an honor of Teen Mother Choices’ dear friend, Greg Krumes, who faithfully spoke about Gospel Fire—a burning passion for the Gospel that refuses to cool down with time, challenge, or routine. That was Greg Krumes and that is Steve Cochlan. Steve doesn’t just believe in Jesus; he burns with a desire for everyone around him to know Him too.

You don’t have to spend long with Steve to figure out what he’s about. Steve is always gently, joyfully steering people toward Jesus. Not with pressure, not with guilt, but with genuine love.

He sees people the way Jesus does: as souls worth pursuing.

And then there’s Steve’s trademark: the way he ends every conversation and email.

“Keep kicking tail for Jesus.”

It’s fun, it’s bold, and it’s very Steve. But it’s also deeply intentional.

Those five words are a reminder:

  • Don’t coast.
  • Don’t give up.
  • Don’t forget Who you’re doing this for.

The Greg Krumes Gospel Fire Award isn’t about popularity, title, or platform. It’s about faithfulness. It’s about that steady flame that refuses to go out, no matter the season.

Steve Cochlan embodies that.

He loves Jesus openly and unapologetically.
He shares the Gospel naturally; with everyone he encounters.
He encourages others to live boldly for Christ.
His life is a living sermon: ordinary moments, surrendered to an extraordinary God.

As we celebrate Steve receiving the 2025 Greg Krumes Gospel Fire Award, we’re really celebrating what God can do through one life fully yielded to Him.

Steve would be the first to say this isn’t about him. It’s about Jesus. It’s about a world that desperately needs the hope he’s found.

So, as we honor Steve, maybe the best way to do it is to follow the example he’s been quietly living out for years:

Love Jesus deeply.
Share the Gospel boldly.
Encourage others relentlessly.

And as Steve himself would say— Keep kicking tail for Jesus!

Congratulations, Steve!
