Maybe this has happened to you. You’ve filled out a job application and the manager calls you in for an interview. While you’re excited about the job opportunity, you don’t know what you should do with your baby. Should you bring him with you to the interview or should you leave him home with a baby-sitter? Will it hurt your chances of getting this job if you have to bring your baby?
The knowledge that you have a baby shouldn’t hurt your chances of getting a job. However, a potential boss isn’t interested in hiring you because you’re a mother he is looking for an employee. He wants to know that you are going to be serious about your work and that while you’re at work, you won’t be easily distracted.
So, our suggestion to you would be … leave your child home with a baby-sitter. You need to be able to concentrate on the questions the manager may ask of you. You can be more focused in this interview if you don’t have to keep one eye on your baby. We’re pretty sure your baby would prefer to be at home than having to sit through this interview with you.
