One of the top reasons teenage mothers do not finish their high school education is they lack the financial resources to pay for the needed childcare. Providing financial assistance for childcare is one of the many services Teen Mother Choices offers the young mothers participating in its program.
If you’re a teenage mother in an area which lacks a Teen Mother Choices’ chapter, where do you go for help with childcare?
There are many resources available to help you find affordable childcare for your child while you attend school. Let’s see if we can help you find resources in your community.
We suggest your research by using the internet. If you don’t have access to the internet in your home, we suggest you go to your local library. Most libraries have internet access which is freely available to residents in their community. On the internet we encourage you to do a Google search of phases such as:
Resources for teen mothers in _____________County, __________________
(your county) (your state)
Childcare Resources in _____________County, __________________
(your county) (your state)
Another great childcare resource available to you is through your local YMCA organization. Many YMCA organizations have childcare facilities in-site or they provide childcare subsidies to provide you with financial assistance for you as you pay for your child’s childcare.
Finally, we strongly encourage you to find out if there are the Christian childcare centers in your community. Ask to meet with the administrator to discuss the possibility of:
- Setting up a payment plan for you while you attend school.
- Working at the center after or before school instead of paying for childcare.
There are resources in your community that are sure to help you; you just need to find where those resources are. Whatever you do, just keep looking until you find the resources that can assist you with childcare so you can finish your high school education.
(This information does not guarantee childcare resources, it is meant to give suggestions as to where those resources might possibly be found.)
