Maybe you’ve found yourself sitting around the house, wearing the same clothes day after day. It seems like one day melts into another now that your baby’s born and home with you. You spend your day, feeding your child, changing its diapers and trying to get him to sleep. Every now and then you get enough time to yourself to take a quick shower.
When it comes to eating, you find that it’s easier to go to the drive-through at your local fast food restaurant. But after a few weeks of living like this you start to realize that you’re not feeling real well. You feel kind of sluggish, tired and you don’t have a lot of energy.
You may have thought that you were feeling this way because you just had a baby. To some degree you’re right. Giving birth puts your body through a lot of trauma and it takes time to recover. You can help your body heal itself and there are several ways you can do that.
- Be sure to keep your six week check-up appointment with your doctor. Your doctor is going to want to make sure your body is healing correctly.
- When your baby is sleeping, try to get a few moments of sleep yourself.
- Instead of eating fast-food, take a few extra minutes and buy some healthier foods from the grocery store. Eating fruits and vegetables, along with dairy products and whole grain breads will help your body become healthier and stronger.
- Finally, get some fresh air and exercise. When you’re have a few moments to yourself, go outside. Take a brisk walk around the block. If you have the chance, put your baby in a stroller and take her with you.
These four things will help you become a healthier you. When you take care of yourself you will feel better and can take better care of your child.
